Kilnformed glass, or kiln-glass objects are made with glasses tested as compatible for fusing when heated in a kiln. Once assembled as desired and heated in a kiln, the glasses soften, fuse together, and assume the shape of whatever surface they are resting upon or within, such as a flat kiln shelf, curved mold, or casting mold. Kilnformed glass is handcrafted, surface treated and heat treated in pertinent materials and methods such as slumping and fusing. We offer this beautiful and practical product line along with some intermediate and advanced techniques to produce works of great beauty and strength. Artists already have many of the skills required for kiln-glass: an understanding of design, composition, and color theory, and an ability to conceive of layers of process and material application.
